About the Director

The current director of Khlabeth Books™ is a Swedish artist whose grandfather taught her to sketch with graphite pencils and charcoals. She soon discovered pen-and-ink, brush pen, pastels, acrylics, and made her own paint with ground pigments. Art competition led to work opportunities illustrating nature books and magazines. She soon added writing to her toolkit as a way to fashion colorful mental images and won college writing competitions on different ground. Eventually, she conquered her fear of oil paint—which was, “How do I control it?”—and painted several portraits on inspiration, for donation, or by commission. Subsequently, representatives from regional shows requested her to serve as judge. The University of Wisconsin conferred her baccalaureate from the School of Business. Yet her boundless passion for sharing the beauty and savor of whole food from seed—and to draw attention to seeds both physical and spiritual—may be her best credential. She may never cease to be amazed by the color “wild-blueberry-blue” which she has never seen quite captured in any medium. She has worked with cultivated plants under the guidance of farmers and homesteaders for much of her life and for five years, commercially. She likes to escape to the forests and rivers of the Great Lakes region every chance that she gets. But she is also endlessly grateful to work in her hewn-log home. There, she has been known to cook at all hours of the day and night on her antique wood cook stove—which she dearly likes, in part, because it is light minty green.
